TWC recently welcomed a new Thrift Store Manager. Ernestina Atcherian accepted an Americorps VISTA position as Thrift Store and Volunteer manager through the Alaska Immigration Justice Project. We are thrilled to have her on board at TWC. Ernestina can be reached at Ernestina_Atcherian@twcpeace.org. The logo for the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) was created many years ago by Dena Drake. After years on the wall of our old building, we needed a new painting. She stopped by with this amazing reproduction. Thank you so much Dena for such hard work and great inspiration!

TWC hosted the 10th Annual Yukegtaaraat Celebration on April 30th, 2011. Honorees were Neva Rivers of Hooper Bay, Esther Green of Bethel and Peter Atchak of Bethel. More than 150 people attended this celebration, which honors people who have made contributions as helpers, leaders or supporters for their families, communities or the entire Y-K region. Thanks to all the businesses and organizations who were sponsors of this event, and to the dozens of people who contributed to the silent auction. We love celebrating these wonderful people who play important and vital roles in our communities throughout the Y-K region.
Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is sponsoring a FREE Children’s Fair from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 8, 2011 at the ONC Multi-purpose Building (the old bowling alley) along with several collaborative partners: TWC/CAC, ONC, YKHC, Law Enforcement & others. Each Agency will have their own information/activity tables. Come join us for fun & interactive activities, games, performances, cupcake walk and face painting. Collect & share information on healthy lifestyles, & volunteer if you can! This event is for children and parents of all ages! All activities are FREE!
Tundra Women’s Coalition is Looking for Someone Special for our 10th Annual Yukegtaaq—Person of the Year. Nominations Are Open: Help us Find Our Next Yukegtaaq! This award will be presented at the 10th Annual Yukegtaaraat Celebration in Bethel. This dinner, silent auction and awards ceremony will be held at the Cultural Center on Saturday, April 30 at 6 pm. It is the Holiday Season and here at the Tundra Women’s Coalition, we are thankful to be starting the second year in our new building.
Since opening we have been at or near capacity every day. There is much to do and so many people to serve.

The Rage City Rollergirls will dedicate a portion of their December 11 bout to TWC.
This Rock’em Sock’em Roller Derby is coming December 11th to the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage.
This bout will be a Double-Header, with the Red Rockers vs. Blue Bombers and the Rage City All-Stars vs. Pacific Roller Derby from Honolulu, Hawaii!
Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster locations in Anchorage.
TWC will have a merchandise table staffed by Travis Rhodes, Evi Sunnyboy Rhodes and Liz Sunnyboy at the the bout and several staff , former staff and supporters at the bout.
In the spirit of the holidays, the Rollergirls will also be collecting toys for children that will be spending their holidays in the safety of domestic violence shelters. Everyone bringing a toy will be entered into a drawing for tickets to the January bout.
